Easytoretrofit toilet seat designed to meet both users hygiene expectations and operators economic requirements in outofhome washrooms

Amsterdam/Zell am See, 14 April 2026 – Hagleitner has launched XIBU DISINFECTION SEAT hybrid. This toilet seat automatically cleans and disinfects itself after every use – without requiring any action from users. According to the manufacturer, the features that create trust for users can also be helpful for operators, thanks to a system solution that is designed for simple retrofitting and economic efficiency.

Addressing sanitary needs

“The Hagleitner Toilet Report 2023, a survey conducted in Germany and Austria, reveals what users desire when it comes to hygiene in public washrooms,” says Markus Nachtmann, Director of Product Management, Marketing & E-Commerce at Hagleitner. “More than 85 per cent of respondents identified the toilet seat as the most sensitive contact surface, with around 95 per cent explicitly wanting it to be disinfected. This is where the XIBU DISINFECTION SEAT hybrid comes in: by combining disinfection and cleaning in one automated process, we ensure consistently high hygiene levels – without any additional effort for users or operators.”

Wiping system

The XIBU DISINFECTION SEAT hybrid performs a complete hygiene cycle after every single use. In an automated interaction between a bi‑directionally rotating seat and a wiping arm equipped with a double‑sided wiping lip, the cleaning and disinfection solution is applied. After a defined contact time of 30 seconds intended to ensure proper disinfection, the seat reverses direction and the opposite side removes the solution.

Nachtmann highlights what he calls the 'total cost of ownership': “Automated cleaning significantly reduces personnel requirements; in many cases, a simple visual check is sufficient.”

Retrofit instead of reconstruction

The design fits common toilet ceramics and installation situations, and retrofitting is also possible without an extra power or an extra water connection.

Digital transformation in hygiene management

The system is fully IoT‑enabled. Usage frequency, refill levels, battery status and service requirements can be monitored in real time and configured remotely. Integrated LoRaWAN connectivity aims to ensure reliable data transmission, even in complex building structures.

Made in Austria

Hagleitner manufactures the system at its headquarters in Zell am See, Austria.
